General objectives and priorities to be implemented at this stage of the pandemic

  • Pursue national vaccination strategies against COVID-19, using currently available vaccines to reduce hospitalizations, serious illnesses and deaths.
  • Filling gaps in vaccination coverage. Improving primary immunization and first-dose booster coverage among eligible people, including children and adolescents eligible under national immunization schedules, remains a priority. This is particularly important for population groups at higher risk of serious outcomes, and for countries with lower vaccination rates.
  • Maintain sufficient vaccination capacity, either by reactivating vaccination centers or by calling on other resources, such as general practitioners.
